Attachment calendar

Date of Project: 10-2006

Name of Coalition: Carlton County Prenatal/Early Childhood Coalition

MIF: Northland Foundation,

Project Overview: Attachment Calendar - Our Safe Schools committee developed a first year calendar with funding from the Safe Schools grant. This calendar features information on child development, how children are learning at each month of development, a quote about children, and photos of county children and parents/caregivers. They also have stickers for parents to label milestones like first smile, word, etc. as well as space to record the first year of life. Our Public Health nurses will distribute these calendars on new baby visits and ECFE Infant classes will also distribute them.

Cost of Project:

# of Children 0-5 Served: 0

# of Children 6-18 Served: 0

# of Adults Served: 0

# Families Served: 0

Lessons Learned/Outcomes: The first year of life is such a teachable time for new parents. Our attachment calendar provides information on child development and focuses on developing the important bond between baby and parent. The calendars are eye catching and interactive as parents can record development of their baby and will also make a good keepsake for families. The calendars are just starting distribution, but are well-received so far. Once the Safe Schools grant expires, our Coalition may also be able to sell them to raise money to sustain this project.
