Project Overview: Welcome Express is a vehicle used by the Chamber of Commerce to welcome new residents to the Perham area. The EC Coalition worked with the Chamber to include current, pertinent information of interest to families with young children. Additionally, the EC Initiative developed cloth bags to be distributed to parents at locations other than the Chamber office to make the information more accessible. Participants include parents as visiting "Ambassadors" to new residents, Chamber of Commerce members, the Day Care Association, Public Health, local preschools, ECFE, Caring Connections, Perham's Americorps Fellow, Perham Public Library, middle school students and teachers, Head Start, and Early Head Start.

Lessons Learned/Outcomes: The project has provided a way to let new residents of Perham, as well as current residents who give birth to and/or care for young children gain access to information that is crucial to the well-being of young children. The visiting "Ambassadors" also provide a way for new residents to meet people and begin to feel connected to their community. An additional outcome has been visibility for Early Childhood resources within the business community of Perham.
