Name of Coalition: Quad Cities Area Early Childhood Coalition

Project Overview: A Community Conversation was held on September 27, 2006 with four members of the Early Childhood Legislative Caucus, 3 of who represent the Iron Range. Community members spoke of the needs of the area early childhood community and a dialogue was held between legislators and the audience. The audience included parent representatives and providers from home and center based day care, Head Start, Early Childhood Special Education, and Early Childhood Family Education & School Readiness. Also attending were K-3 teachers, School Board members, and City Government representatives.

Lessons Learned/Outcomes: The audience had an opportunity to educate legislators about needs of the community. The legislators had an opportunity to visit with constituents and share legislative agenda items as well as address funding issues.
